Company Profile
WHO WE ARE
Fidson Healthcare Plc. is engaged in the business of manufacturing, marketing, and sales of quality pharmaceutical and healthcare products. We are a wholly Nigerian company that has grown to become the leader in the Nigerian Healthcare sector.
Our HISTORY
Fidson Healthcare Plc. was incorporated in March 1995 and has grown to become the leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Nigeria.
Though it started as a local distributor of pharmaceutical products, the company has relentlessly pursued its goal to become the leading player in the pharmaceutical landscape in West Africa. Our core values – Innovation, Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and Ownership – form the substructure on which we have built a world-class company that has earned the respect and admiration of even the fiercest of our competitors.
Barely a year into its existence, Fidson started importing its own brands of finished medicines – introducing Ciprotab and Peflotab brands of quinolones to the market. By July 2002, Fidson set up its first local manufacturing facility and later became the first company in sub-Saharan Africa to manufacture Antiretroviral (ARV) drugs in March 2005.
Expanding its business even further, Fidson was listed on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, (NSE) to become a publicly quoted company in 2008 and completed its 3rd Factory in the same year. About a year later, the company won the Financial Standard Sector Leader Award.
Fidson has become the largest company, by market capitalization, in the healthcare sector of the NSE. The company reported a turnover of ₦40.634billion for the year ended 31 December 2022.
Today, we manufacture eight (10) distinct dosage forms from our ultramodern, World Health Organisation Current Good Manufacturing Practice (WHO cGMP) certifiable factory in Ota, Ogun State and are a distinguished candidate for pre-qualification by WHO.
By leveraging our relationships and collaborations with various international technical partners – most of whom are market leaders in their areas of specializations – we can deliver high-quality medicines to Nigerians. Today, we offer over 350 NAFDAC registered brands including POMs & OTCs across various therapeutic classes and pharmacological segments. We also provide excellent services including research, formulation & development, and contract manufacturing.
Fidson prides itself in quality and technical excellence and received the NIS ISO 9001:2000 certification for Quality Management Systems from the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) in November 2017. This has subsequently been upgraded to NIS ISO 9001:2015. Also, in 2019, we received the NIS ISO 14001: 2015 certification for our excellent Environmental Management Systems and still retained the certification following the successful recertification audit conducted in December 2021 that conferred compliant status of the company in accordance with current management system requirements. We are the only company in our sector to achieve this feat. We are currently the sole manufacturing partner for GSK in Nigeria.
The phenomenal growth of Fidson has been steered by providence and a team of young, passionate, and dedicated field personnel as well as vibrant and seasoned managers led by a visionary leadership team driven by a passion for excellence and credibility.
With an employee strength of over 600 Professionals – including more than 206 professional pharmacists, Fidson is the largest employer of pharmacists in Nigeria outside the Federal Government.
